Absinthe 2.0 has been released today allowing you to apply an untethered jailbreak to your iOS device running iOS 5.1.1. Prior to today’s release, you’d have to apply a tethered jailbreak if you were running iOS 5.1.1 meaning if you ever had to reboot your device or if it rebooted on it’s own, you’d have to connect to a computer and rejailbreak. If you didn’t have computer access, this would be a huge hassle as you’d be without a phone. Today’s release of Absinthe 2.0 comes as a relief to many in that the jailbreak is finally untethered (so you can reboot at any time without a computer) and that you can use the latest OS version.
Absinthe 2.0 works with any device that is running iOS 5.1.1 so that means you must have any of the following devices:
- iPod touch 3rd or 4th generation
- iPhone 3GS, 4, or 4S
- iPad 2 (not the most recent production model due to a processor difference) or iPad 3
If you’ve been on the edge of your seat waiting for an untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak, get at it!
