The iOS Instagram client was updated today to version 2.5, giving it new features which include easier access to your profile, a new Explore tab, performance enhancements, and more.
In previous versions of Instagram, tapping the profile tab brought you to the application settings. That ends in version 2.5 as you now see your profile upon entering the Profile tab with a settings icon in the top right. You’ll have quicker access to your profile this way and settings will be stowed away.
The Popular tab has been changed to an Explore tab, allowing you to search people or search hashtags to view images tagged with specific words. You can now also choose to share likes on Instagram with your Facebook account so your friends can see images you’ve liked.
Here’s the complete change log:
- Revamped profile tab
- Search for users and tags in the Explore tab
- Improvements to commenting
- User search autocompletes based on people you follow
- Visual improvements
- Speed optimizations
- Optionally share likes to Facebook (enable in your Profile > Sharing Settings > Facebook)
