Following the removal of the native YouTube app from iOS 6 – which is to be released to the public sometime next week – Google released their official YouTube application in the App Store this morning, as promised.
YouTube has come pre-installed on every iOS device since the iPhone in 2007 and was removed as the license for it’s use in future OS versions came to an end. Google’s version features a completely different look and tons more features as they stated in the App Store description:
Watch the world’s videos and keep up with your favorite YouTube channels with the official YouTube app for iOS. Sign in to access your subscriptions, playlists, uploads and more.
✓ Enjoy YouTube’s vast video catalog, including official music videos
✓ Find videos and channels more easily with voice search and query autocomplete
✓ Subscribe to channels and instantly access your subscriptions with the channel guide UI
✓ Read comments, browse related videos, enable subtitles and more – all while watching
✓ Easy video sharing to Google+, E-mail, Facebook and Twitter
The app is free and is a must have if you periodically or constantly use the built in YouTube app as it’ll no longer be available to you once you upgrade to iOS 6 next week.
