An image posted to Apple.pro appears to show the rear of a 3rd-generation iPad bearing Apple’s new Lightning port, suggesting the company is gearing up to complete the roll out of the new port to all their main mobile products. Rumors have been swirling around since early August reporting that Apple is planning to update all iOS devices with the new Lightning port by this fall and so far, the port has made it to all devices except for the iPad, with the rumored iPad mini and current 9.7 inch iPad slated to receive it this coming Tuesday.
Other reports have said the 3rd generation iPad would be getting global LTE support and possibly even the A6 chip, although the latter doesn’t have much support. Apple.pro has a somewhat reliable track record, although nothing is confirmed till announced by Apple.
