Huawei took the stage at CES 2013 to announce the Ascend D2, the successor to the D1 launched early last year and their answer to the growing list of 5-inch 1080p smartphones. It’s 5-inch display has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 and a pixel density of 443 ppi. It’s also got a 1.5GHz quad-core K3V3 processor, a 3,000 mAh battery which is said to charge 25 percent faster than a Galaxy SIII, a 13 megapixel camera, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Huawei’s Emotion UI.
The device is also dustproof and waterproof and the latter was demonstrated by Richard Yu, Head of Consumer Electronics at Huawei, who poured a pitcher of water onto the device. The D2 will be available next month, but Huawei neglected to mention pricing and other details.
