Apple has announced that their annual Worldwide Developers Conference will begin on Monday, June 10th, 2013 and run all the way until Friday, June 14th, 2013. Apple announces Q2 2013 earnings, teases ‘exciting new product categories’

Apple has posted their Q2 2013 earnings which include 37.4 million iPhones, 19.5 million iPads, just under 4 million Macs, and 5.6 million iPods sold, as well as a quarterly revenue of $43.6 billion. Apple brought in $9.5 billion in profit compared to last quarters profit of 13.1 billion which made it the most profitable quarter in tech history.  Continue reading

T-Mobile iPhone 5 preorders begin today

Just a heads up: T-Mobile has started accepting preorders for the iPhone 5 which will launch next week on April 12th. The iPhone 5 will finally launch after years of speculation as to whether or not T-Mobile would ever carry it or not. With T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice Plan, you can get the iPhone 5 for a down payment of just $99 dollars and then spread out the full cost of the device by paying $20 for 24 months thereafter.

Apple to announce Q2 2013 earnings on April 23rd

Apple has updated it’s investors page once again to announce that it will be releasing its Q2 2013 financial results via a conference call on April 23rd at 2PM Pacific / 5PM Eastern. Apple launched the 128GB iPad this past quarter and also  lowered the prices of some Mac models. Last quarter, Apple announced a record quarterly revenue of $54.5 billion, sold a record 47.8 million iPhones, and sold a record 22.9 million iPads.

T-Mobile announces iPhone 5 for $99, available April 12th

As expected, T-Mobile has announced the availability of the iPhone 5, as well as the 4S and 4, at their “UnCarrier” event today. Today’s announcement makes the iPhone available on all four major US carriers. The iPhone 5 will cost just $99 plus $20 per month for 2 years on the carriers new Simple Choice Plan, the 4S will cost $69.99 plus $20 a month for 2 years, and the 4 will cost $15 plus $20 per month for 2 years.

T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice Plan starts with a base rate of $50 per month for unlimited talk, text and Web with 500MB of 4G data.3 Consumers can add 2GB of 4G data for $10 per month per line or get unlimited 4G data for an additional $20 per month per line. Customers can add a second phone line for $30 per month, and each additional line is just $10 per month. There are no caps and no overages.

Apple releases iOS 6.1.3 and update for Apple TV

Apple released iOS 6.1.3 today as a minor update for all iOS 6 supported devices. The update brings a fix for the security flaw that could allow someone to gain access to your Phone app by exploiting a lock screen flaw, as well as Map improvements for Japan.

This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

  •  Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app
  •  Improvements to Maps in Japan

The update also reportedly patches the Evasi0n jailbreak, although a tethered jailbreak has already been released for iOS 6 devices utilizing pre-A5 chips. If you’re jailbroken, updating to 6.1.3 will remove your jailbreak and render you unable to re-jailbreak for you’re device is an iPhone 4S or later, an iPod touch 5 or later, or iPad 2 or later.

Apple also released iOS 5.2.1 for the Apple TV second gen or later which patches some security flaws and brings a redesigned Hulu interface.

Apple releases OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion

Apple released OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion this afternoon with a bevy of welcomed fixes and additions. A notable addition is the added Boot Camp support for Windows 8 and the ability to redeem an iTunes gift card using you Mac’s built-in camera. Here’s the entire change log:

  • The ability to redeem iTunes gift cards in the Mac App Store using your Mac’s built-in camera
  • Boot Camp support for installing Windows 8
  • Boot Camp support for Macs with a 3TB hard drive
  • A fix for an issue that could cause a file URL to quit apps unexpectedly
  • A fix for an issue that may cause Logic Pro to become unresponsive when using certain plug-ins
  • A fix for an issue that may cause audio to stutter on 2011 iMacs
  • Includes Safari 6.0.3
